A spectre is haunting the world — the spectre of nationalism. In many nations around the world, its citizens as well as its governments are turning toward nationalism. Finally looking inward, finally rebelling against the international community which doesn’t exist except in the minds of Western liberals, and returning to that pure concept of ethnic self-rule for the fixes that ail their countries [1].
Some told the Guardian of their angst over the “demise of the West” due to the rise of Islam or voiced their distaste of salafists and homosexuals in the same breath, or decried the recent decision by local politicians to increase the number of homes for asylum seekers.
And how the establishment quaked, dug down in its bag for canned remarks, and repeated, with a straight face, “these people are obviously right-wing extremist and racists. They do not represent Germany,” and so on.
Oh but they do you old fools, and your old criminal labels do not matter in this emerging new age. Soon your mouths will be as empty as your burned out ideas.
No less than 24 right-wing populist parties took about a quarter of the European Parliament seats during May elections. And soon they will be in charge of Germany just like they will soon be in charge in France and the United Kingdom in years to come.
Just like they are already in charge in Russia, China, Japan, Turkey, India and Israel in what Patrick J. Buchanan [2] describes as the new Putinism leadership “behind nationalistic strong men,” save for the lone lady, National Front’s Marine Le Pen.
“All are nationalists,” Buchan writes, “almost all tend to a social conservatism from which Western democracies recoil. Almost none celebrate democracy or democratic values the way we do.”
American and Western social progressive imperialism is withering in its own backyard. Liberal Democratic hegemony is being replaced by an insular drive, a return to the sacred. These nationalists are carrying the light, “in which they are all, “in some way or another, different from and hostile to, modern Western values of individual rights, tolerance, cosmopolitanism, and internationalism” (Buchanan, 2014).
Human rights and democracy crusades have been exposed as the farce they always were. Putin stood up to the Western progressive supremacists and the powerful America media industry over his country’s homosexual policies during the Winter Olympics. Something they are unaccustomed to, especially the feared US Media, as they are used to bullying and steam rolling over opposition.
“Yet not every American revels in the sewer that is our popular culture. Not every American believes we should impose our democratist ideology on other nations. Nor are Big Media and Hollywood universally respected. Patriotism, religion and social conservatism guide the lives of a majority of Americans today” (Buchanan, 2014).
The nationalists in these countries are reclaiming for themselves what globalization ripped away: cultural spirituality and identity. [3]
They are saying: The Western world has no need of Africa, the Middle East, or any nation in the Global South, except only where potential economic interests exist; otherwise any other cooperation turns into bloodletting affair and a threat to our civilization. Colonization of the West must end. Europa is for Europeans.
Decisions should be based on organic values, rooted in the wisdom and certainty of time and soil, as the sine qua non (“necessary prerequisite”) that every self-governing people should possess. Not based on the creeds from liberal dogma of hyper-secularism, ultra-individualism, and everyman equality.
After 70 years of social experimentation in the West, multiculturalism, third world immigration, rabid liberalism and budget draining welfare systems, has conjured up a perfect catastrophe for ethnic and racial strife. A battleground between citizen and state is being flooded with effectives. High ground is being seized. The ranks are thickening, forming for ideological warfare.
