$100 million budget cuts in a $3.5 trillion world of spending.

After a couple of days of well deserved rest, I figured jumping back into the blogging fray with a shot of ridicule across the Obama administration's bow on their budget cuts would be appropriate.

This ridiculous attempt at "fiscal responsibility" is far more insulting to a person's intelligence than any GOP budget proposal could ever hope to be. Here are some very keen observations on what cutting $100 million from government waste is equivalent to.

Just to be clear: $100 million represents .003 percent of $3.5 trillion.

To put those numbers in perspective, imagine that the head of a household with annual spending of $100,000 called everyone in the family together to deal with a $34,000 budget shortfall. How much would he or she announce that spending had be cut? By $3 over the course of the year--approximately the cost of one latte at Starbucks. The other $33,997? We can put that on the family credit card and worry about it next year.

And it’s only a downpayment: In his weekly address this weekend, Obama said the next step will be to announce “the elimination of dozens of government programs shown to be wasteful or ineffective.”

So $100 million is a pretty big chunk of federal spending that would be reined in, right? Actually, no. Not compared to the $3.7 trillion Obama proposed spending in the fiscal 2010 budget. If you want to put it in perspective, Obama asked the department and agency heads to cut the equivalent of about 1/37,000th of his budget plans.

Or, if you want to use the Senate and House budget resolutions instead — which trimmed Obama’s spending plans back to about $3.5 trillion — you could say that he’s trying to cut about 1/35,000th of the budget.

But it might be more fair to compare the spending cuts to the size of the annual deficits, since that’s what Obama is trying to get under control. In fiscal 2010, the deficit would be about $1.4 trillion under Obama’s policies, according to the Congressional Budget Office (the deficits would gradually get smaller in later years). So in that sense, the Obama administration would be cutting about 1/14,000th of the deficit for next year.

It seems fairly apparent that the administration is tired of hiding their disdain for the intelligence of the people of this country. At least with this they are finally being honest that they think we are stupid.

Tom Daschle:Tax Problems, Go Figure

Surprise, surprise, surprise, Tom Daschle owes back taxes. Another Democrat caught cheating on taxes and claiming it was due to ignorance. But, don't worry, now that it matters he has paid what was owed. Doesn't that make you feel better?

FOX News confirmed that Daschle alerted the Senate Finance Committee, which will oversee his confirmation hearing, that the matter involves more than $100,000 in back taxes and interest for a car and driver that was provided to him for four years by Leo Hindery, "a wealthy Democratic donor and longtime friend of Daschle's."

Daschle "incorrectly assumed" the use of the car and driver was not subject to taxation. But the White House says he discovered the error during preparation for his confirmation and filed amended tax returns with the proper payment and interest.

Please, don't fret none, the White House is all over it. Their response has been printed out on the newly created form letter for Cabinet nominees with tax problems.

The White House issued a statement Friday night affirming that Daschle "is the right person to lead the fight for health care reform."

"Senator Daschle brought these issues to the Finance Committee's attention when he submitted his nomination forms and we are confident the committee is going to schedule a hearing for him very soon, and he will be confirmed," it says.

Yawn, this isn't news anymore, it's expected.

Pennsylvania voters are allergic to ACORN, it makes them disappear.

Arrrrrggghh, more ACORN bull. Their corruption of these clowns is unbelievable, the levels they have sunk to get a Dem voted into office is absolutely incredible. The American Spectator, a right wing rag, has the full story on the depths of the corrupted nut's depravity in Pennsylvania.

Would seem the little ACORN has been planting its toxic seeds growing faux voters right out of thin air. But this isn't new news, if you ever thought ACORN was anything but corrupt you might believe in the Tooth Fairy or are in need of a full frontal lobotomy.

Justice Sandra Newman, accompanied by Dauphin County District Attorney Edward Marsico and Pennsylvania Republican State Chairman Robert Gleason, expressed her concerns at a Harrisburg press conference this morning. A thick document replete with photo copies of phony registrations and aerial shots of vacant lots used as "addresses" for "voters" was handed out to journalists.

The numbers in Philadelphia county alone were staggering. Keep in mind this is one county, a big one, but just one.

Between March 23rd and October 1st, various groups, including ACORN, submitted over 252,595 registrations to the Philadelphia County Election Board" with 57, 435 rejected for faulty information. "Most of these registrations were submitted by ACORN, and rejected due to fake social security numbers, incorrect dates of birth, clearly fraudulent signatures, addresses that do not exist, and duplicate registrations. In one case, a man was registered to vote more than 15 times since the Primary election."

You have to respect their dedication to their art.

All of this brings Pennsylvania into focus as yet another key battleground state where a serious effort is being made to, bluntly put, steal the presidency in a move reminiscent of the attempts made by the 2000 Gore campaign in Florida. Just as ACORN's efforts have been directed at key electoral states such as Florida, Colorado, Missouri, New Mexico Ohio, and Wisconsin, so within Pennsylvania have its efforts been targeted at key Pennsylvania counties. For decades the internal electoral math of the state for Republicans has been to overwhelm the heavy Democratic vote in Philadelphia and Pittsburgh with strong showings in the Philadelphia suburbs, Central Pennsylvania, and western counties outside Pittsburgh.

Tactical minded little bastards, aren't they? If this keeps up we could have a repeat of the 2000 election results being decided by the SCOTUS. I don't want to go through that again, it was like a bad civics lesson brought to you by CNN and FOX. Anyways, if there is any doubt in the American voter's mind that Obama got the election based on this, the validity of his Presidency is going to be at stake. Didn't the Libbies learn anything from GW in 2000? Guess not.
