Joe "Captain Obvious" Biden

In a stunning display of his intellectual capacity, Vice-President Joe Biden, has offered America, and the world, his take on the situations, the Obama administration has "inherited."

While appearing on Face the Nation, Biden stated,

"It is worse, quite frankly, than everyone thought it was, and it's getting worse every day."

"There's been no good news, and there's no good news on the immediate horizon," he said. "The only good news is the president acted swiftly; he's put together an economic stimulus package that we believe, and outsiders believe, will create 3 million to 4 million new jobs and set a new framework for the economy to develop on, a new foundation. And so we're off and running, but it's going to get worse before it gets better."

Interpretation, we have this idea that looks great on paper, it's gonna cost you and 5 generations of your families a lot of money, and we aren't sure it's gonna work. So, hang on it's gonna be a bumpy and expensive ride, even though it doesn't have to be.

The DieBate: Obituary for Senator Joe Biden

Here at PCT we are sad to report that Senator Joe Biden received mortal wounds from a Sarahcuda attack. An infamous gaffemeister and long winded blowhard, the Senator from the great state of Delaware will be sorely missed. But, news reports are that the Sarahcuda wasn't very satisfied with her appetizer and now is looking for the entree dish better known as Obamination.

Okay that was for CT, since it looks like his conspiracy theory may have had an inkling of truth to it. If he was right it isn't because he is so sm-u-rt, it is because he is paranoid and we know that only paranoid people can figure stuff like this out, lol. But, he was sweating it especially after posting about it. Maybe ole' Sun Tsu reached out across the ethereal planes and gave him a little Zen about the debate outcome. Good call CT, you dah man on this one.

Let's look at some of the comments fro No Quarter and PoliPundit, both of which were running open threads. I am taking the posters names off.

Wachovia faced a ‘silent' bank run

Rick Rothacker and Kerry Hall, Charlotte Observer-On Friday, with its stock plunging 27 percent, Wachovia experienced a “silent run” on deposits, but the bigger worry for regulators was that other banks wouldn't provide the Charlotte bank with necessary short-term funding when it opened for business Monday, sources familiar with the situation told the Observer.

This is why I am for private interests buying out the weaker of the herd. Understandably, there has to be a certain degree of government intervention, but not to the socialistic degree that the Congress and President have pushed. Although many have claimed this is the end of capitalism, I am not going to join the ranks of knee jerk reactionaries. It is way to early in the game to be crying that this is the death of free market capitalism, but it is definitely on life support.

If she is going to win keeping Joe Biden on the defense is the best tactic. It would fluster him and make him prone to his most notable feature, gaffing. But,I don't expect a blow out either way.

Dumbowit Failure on Thursday. Could They Be This Stupid?

I gave CT the day off, he has been reading so much his eyes are buggin' out of his head and it was making him come up with all sorts of wild ideas. Well, I was more than obliged to pick up this post for Palin, the VPILF. I liked CT's little conspiracy theory about Schmidt, chief McCain campaign strategist, being a diabolical madman. Schmidt, according to CT, has Palin locked up in a cage and feedin' her raw meat and gunpowder, getting her mean for the debate.

Little off the wall CT, I must say. But here is a clown from the LA Times, Andrew Malcolm, that might agree with CT, just a little.

The upcoming downside for the Obama-Biden campaign is that its supporters became so flustered over Palin's surprisingly explosive popularity coming out of the GOP convention. They have so successfully mocked, derided and lowered expectations for Palin in Thursday night's VP debate that if she doesn't drool or speak in tongues, many millions still open to persuasion will be impressed. Well, Obamination definitely has a rep for thinking he can walk on water, especially when he is winning. Which according to the last Gallup as Ras. he is doing quite handily. But, the Dumbowits have made the exact mistake CT was talking about before, courtesy of Rove, the evil genius bent on world domination.

Al Gore's campaign made the exact same mistake going into the 2000 debates. So all Texas Gov. George W. Bush had to do was not lose. [1]

Looking at what this clown is saying, maybe my little brain child was close to right. Of course I am just an ignorant peasant so I agree with anything that sounds good. Malcom finsihed off his theory about Palin with this then went on about her parents.

In that sense, Democrats may have played right into a PR cul-de-sac. Biden, for instance, described Palin as merely better-looking than him. A far better communications strategy would have been to insincerely portray Palin with superlatives as a superwoman, making it harder, not easier, for her to impress. Too late now. [1]

I don't think CT got it all right about Schmidt having this great plan. I think that the McCain camp screwed up by being over protective of Palin and now realizes it. The lady is talented, not to mention hot, and to keep her leashed up is a sin. He also got it right about Obambi and his mindless minions being over confident. They might have played into McCain's hands with Palin, but I don't think it was by design, as CT thinks. One other thing that is more important, even if CT and Malcolm are correct, is that the Left has to be wrong about Palin and she has to deliver. No amount of over confidence or Biden making an ass out of himself with help her with that. Guess we will know the truth in a few days, can't wait!

Sun Tsu Cain and the Art of VP Debating

At first I was not going to write this post, because quite frankly what I was thinking made no sense to me. Then thumbing through some old reading material I came across the Art of War, by mythical general, Sun Tsu. A particular quote jumped out at me, Sun Tsu speaking about strategic assessments, "A military operation involves deception. Even though you are competent, appear to be incompetent. Though effective, appear to be ineffective."

I have been puzzled by the shielding that Governor Palin has been receiving from the media by the McCain camp. After Dick Cheney was annouced as the Republican Vice President candidate he did five interviews in his first week. Palin has done three in about three weeks. Why? Was the Left correct about her being a boob and incompetent? Maybe they were right about her experience and intelligence level, this didn't make sense either.

This woman successfully ran against a very corrupt and somewhat powerful Republican establishment in Alaska and won. She managed a budget of some $11.7 billion and negotiated a very lucrative deal for a natural gas pipeline when no one else could. Bill Clinton has stated that he sees in her a great deal of "political intuition." Or maybe he just thinks she is hot, I dunno, it is Bubba we are talking about. Jokes aside, the evidence of her talent as well as her pragmatism and intelligence is there, she seemingly has it. Not to mention she scares the hell out of the Left.

I am only able to draw two conclusions, because of the media onslaught against her, maybe the McCain camp is purposefully protecting her and her family. Keeping her on message, with talking points and not allowing her to get into her feelings on matters and if this is what they are doing it is a grave mistake. Or, they are a little smarter than I am giving them credit for.

There is one other possibility and it is a very enormous stretch and maybe even hard to believe. Taking into account what Sun Tsu wrote on strategic assessment, could this be what the McCain camp is trying to accomplish? They are notorious risk takers, but those risks are always calculated, not rash. Sometimes they work out better than others, but they are usually successful. McCain's camp has twice been on the ropes and twice has comeback. So, why not?

By sequestering Palin and having her appear as naive and inexperienced in an interview is risky for perceptions sake. But it gives her distinct advantages she will need going against a masterdebator, yes that is a joke, like Joe Biden. First, interviews that are given prior to debates are used to gain insight into tactics and strategy, like a football team or a boxer uses. They can gain you and idea of how your opponent might play in a certain situation. Secondly, Steve Schmidt is a student of Karl Rove and Rove is notorious for using deception and feints in his political strategies. Thirdly, it would possibly make the Obama camp become over confident before the debate.

With that in mind, the Obama camp is known for dropping their guard when they think they have victory in their hands and whining when losing. Right now, advantage Obama, the stage is set for his victory. If they form a certain strategy for Palin and she comes out with something totally different I do not think Biden could handle it and would certainly be prone to losing his temper and gaffing up a storm. That would ensure a Palin victory which would definitely reignite McCain in the final stretch as well as keep Obama off base in the upcoming debates.

I realize there are alot of "ifs" with this hypothesis and it may be way off base. But, just in case I am right, I wanted to be able to put my name in the, "I told you so category." If I am wrong then I get the, "You are a moron category." One, I am sure that Opie would love to see me in.

Biden has Definitely Fired Up the Ole' Gaffe-O-Mattic

With all this seriousness going on around Opie and I have come up with two or three topics, on the lighter side, to keep things humorous and in perspective. Besides there is nothing newsworthy going on, somebody said something about some $700 billion Wall Street bail out and John McCain suspending his candidacy for the Presidency. Right now these are just rumors(being sarcastic), so we are going to bring you something really news worthy courtesy of Joe Biden.

I don't dislike Joey, he is a devoted family man and devoted Senator, can't stand his politics though. What I love most about him is the constant foot-in-mouth disease he suffers from. God, how could you ask for any better, here is a list of the most recent and growing list.

Biden on an ad the Obama campaign was running concerning John McCain.

-"I thought that was terrible, by the way. I didn't know we did it and if I had anything to do with it, we'd have never done it," he told the CBS “Evening News” in reference to this Obama-Biden ad. [1]

On his Congressional trip to Afghanistan.

-"If you want to know where Al Qaeda lives, you want to know where Bin Laden is, come back to Afghanistan with me. ... Come back to the area where my helicopter was forced down, with a three-star general and three senators at 10,500 feet in the middle of those mountains. I can tell you where they are," he said to the National Guard Association. (According to ABC News, Biden's helicopter was forced down by a snowstorm). [1]

Speaking about the economic meltdown.

-“When the stock market crashed, Franklin Roosevelt got on the television and didn’t just talk about the princes of greed,” Biden told Couric. “He said, ‘Look, here’s what happened." [2]

Problem is Hoover was President when the stock market crashed and there was no television.

Joe on rich folks paying more taxes to help get the country out of the rut, lol.

-Biden said: "It's time to be patriotic ... time to jump in, time to be part of the deal, time to help get America out of the rut." [3]

Biden on coal usage.

-"We're not supporting 'clean coal.' [4]

Now keep in mind two things: 1) Biden is from Pennsylvania, where coal mining is big business. 2) Obama supports clean coal initiatives.

Biden on diplomatic initiatives with Iran.

-After seven years, in which our senior diplomatic personnel were not allowed to make a single contact with Iranians, the Bush administration realized the absurdity of its own policy and sent our leading diplomat to Iran,” he said. “The Assistant Secretary of State as he went to Tehran, sat down at the instruction of the President of the United States. [5]

Keep in mind that the Democrats, Obama included, have long stated and criticized the President for using "cowboy diplomacy" especially with Iran. When he opens the door, they slam it in his face.

Gaffe cred to 30yrdem-not any more.

BHO Experience vs. Palin Experience for Prez: Darn, I Forgot She is Running for Veep

Well the attacks are in, "Palin has no experience, she was only a mayor of 9,000 and a Governor for 2 years!" "You can't have her one step away from the Presidency!" "Yeah and it negates the experience issue about Barack!" Oh, really?

Actually, it doesn't. I think the Obama campaign and the MSM must really think we are a bunch of boobs. Newsflash Barry, Sarah Palin isn't running for the Presidency, John McCain is. Did the Obama camp forget about that?

Okay, so let's look at Palin; she presides over a state that encompasses 570,374 sq.mi, has a population of 670,053 people, the GDP of Alaska is $41 billion, along with the state House and Senate, she filled Alaska's coffers with an extra $5 billion dollars for FY 08, to accomplish this feat she had to reach across the aisle to Democrats as well as some bull headed Republicans, stands in command of 1,850 Alaska Army and Air National Guardsman (Small, yes, but still military.), her state is about 50 miles or more away from Russia and is bordered on the other side by Canada, so she has never dealt with a foreign nation. She understands the energy crunch and what to do about it better than anyone. She was the Chairwoman of the State's Oil and Gas Conservation Commission, which regulates Alaska's oil and gas resources. I don't think she is qualified to even work in fast food with this resume.

Besides voting on legislation, what has Barry managed and led? Let's take a look at him...............Wow!! That was quick.

Does managing a campaign for 2 out of the 3 years you have been in office count? What about counting the Greek backdrop at the DNC as an infrastructure project? Maybe helping out the local pot dealers in Denver by attracting Moonbats to buy from them can be thought of as a community outreach program with economic implications.

Moving on.

Evidence presented, Palin has demonstrated more potential for leadership and reform in her short 2 year bid as Alaska's Governor. She has done what she said she was going to do, kept her promises, and fought hard for her constituents well being. I would even take her record as a lowly Mayor and put it up against Obama's "lengthy resume" as a US Senator. I think that alone would make her a better candidate than the whine and blame candidate.

Edit: I just came across this via A Second Hand Conjecture and man oh man, this does not bode well for our junior Senator. Governor Palin visiting her own Guardsman in the desert. How many Senators from Illinois do this and not just for a photo-op or through prodding from a rival candidate? The more I investigate her the more I see her potential for greatness.

Biden, Yawn, Big Deal.

Well, all the hoopla and mystery about Obama's V.P. pick is over, as most of you probably know it is Senator Joe Biden of Delaware. Okay, it's Biden, now what? This was like watching a well anticipated movie that was supposed to be of Oscar winning caliber and it rated nothing more than a "B" performance. Kind of disappointing.

Biden simply put, is a yawn for the Obama ticket. His fist pumping, progressive, youth filled, change oriented base will get nothing from this. Obviously this was an attempt to bring in all those old school Dems who do not identify with Barry. A Biden veep pick is Obama telling them, “I am safe, you see I am one of you." "It is okay for you to vote for me."But, will Biden's arrival on the scene even accomplish that?

As of now, I do not see Biden's presence really affecting the outcome of this election in anyway, shape, or form. Other than him saying something stupid, which he is well known for doing, he will probably be a non-factor. On the flip side, looking at Biden compared to Obama's other choices; he is a sound and safe pick when you balance him out against weaknesses of the Dem ticket.

But Biden meets the standard for a vice president. [1]

Okay, I will agree with that, but again he is safe, to a point, and that is it. The Obama camp has been so charged with "Change," Biden is a step back. But, Obama has been under blistering attacks from the right about how naive and inexperienced he is. Biden brings that elder Democratic statesman formula into play. This does not quell those attacks, but to a small degree it takes away some of the sting.

Also, you have to think about those hardcore Progressives that make up quite a chunk of Obama's base. They will see Biden as the old guard, not the new socialist movement that is taking over the Democratic Party. I am sure the majority of them will still vote for Obama, but this could potentially generate more tension.

Too much change can be a bad thing, and Biden, unlike other candidates for the number two job, curbs stories about naivete and a lack of depth. [1]

This directly falls in line with Biden's experience as the former chair of the Senate Judiciary Committee and the current chair of the Senate Foreign Services Committee. Not to mention that Biden has been around Washington since the Nixon era.

Biden, like Gore, is the insider who makes the Obama-Clinton outsider acceptable to fellow insiders. [1]

I could not disagree with this more. Obama has the Democratic side of Washington locked up in Al Gore's lockbox and takes it out when he wants to play. Look at the money this man has generated of the past year. Do you think that is all coming from the public? Uh, no. Obama made his own in-roads into Washington and got well established and liked by the Democratic heavy hitters very rapidly. Biden is a non-factor in this area.

Instead of picking a candidate who helps him in a tactical sense, Obama eschewed political calculations and picked someone viewed as ready to be president. As the media begins to focus on Obama's perceived arrogance and calculating nature, choosing Biden goes against that emerging narrative. [1]

It's all about image and Biden will do nothing for Obama's image. Again, the voters already have formed their opinions on how they view Obama, it's too late. In fact, Biden does not compliment Obama's weak image, he tends to highlight it. Biden, for the most part, represents everythng that Obama wanted to change in Washington but has been unable to. So, instead of moving from this, Obama has embraced it. This is because he is to weak to stand on his own experience and his message has no substance.
