Blago and Bama: Brothers in Message

The Chicago political contraption really has produced some very interesting characters, I use that term loosely. Blagojevich, Ryan, Emanuel, Rostenkowski, Obama, Axelrod, Daley, and on and on. It is one place, like many other corrupt states, where party lines are blurred by bribery, cronyism, extortion, quid quo pro, etc., bi-partisan politix at its best. Many Pols in the political architecture of Chi-Town are of the cookie cutter variety and it seems, at least in message, that Blagojevich and Bama are quite representative of this fact.

From Baretta’s victory speech, after winning the Illinois Governor’s seat back in 02’
“Tonight, ladies and gentlemen, Illinois has voted for change.”
From Prez-elect Bama’s victory speech in Hyde Park in Nov 08’.

“It’s been a long time coming, but tonight, because of what we did on this day, in this election, at this defining moment, change has come to America.”
I don’t think the Obamabots imagined change meaning Windy City politics as usual. Looking at the handling of the Blagojevich scandal by the administration, the probability of reneging on campaign promises to the Obamanation, and the personal surrounding the Prez-elect, I think it is sufficed to say that not much has “changed.”
