McCain-Palin 'Goes to the Mats'

John McCain has called Barack Obama a liar, Sarah Palin has stuck to her guns and Democrats have gone personal as the bitter White House race got even nastier today. In a speech to a rally in New Mexico, Senator McCain has suggested his US presidential election rival cannot be trusted and accused him of mudslinging over the country's financial crisis. Senator Obama has claimed on the campaign trail that Senator McCain's support for Bush administration policies make him partly to blame for the Wall St meltdown currently threatening world markets. But Senator McCain has said that is rubbish - and Senator Obama knows it. "I guess he believes if a lie is big enough and repeated often enough it will be believed," he said. "But the truth is I was the one who called at the time for tighter restrictions on Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac that could have helped prevent this crisis from happening in the first place."
